Required Novels on Audio

Most of our required novels for English are on the S Drive at school under Audio Books.

You can access this at school only, but you can save the audiobook to a flash drive and upload it to your own computer/phone/tablet/laptop to listen to at any time!

Literature Policy Statement

The English Department at PCS is dedicated to the teaching of quality literature within a safe, Christian framework that is the classroom. That does not necessarily mean that every text will espouse Christian ideals and beliefs. As part of the school’s mission statement to “nurture students in…critical thinking,” texts that encourage them to sail out of the safe harbor and consider other experiences and worldviews, especially as they relate to their own, are encouraged, though the teacher is always on board with them. These texts are not read in isolation but are part of student-driven, teacher-guided discussion that does assume Christianity as a grounding framework to which students return.

The fact of the matter is that most good books aren't safe, because they do challenge the reader to think about and sometimes defend deeply held ideas and beliefs. But there is no more positive, or important, task for the classroom, particularly in the Christian school.
